The arrangement
These terms cover the free IQ test and every page published alongside it.
You may take the test and read the site free of charge. In exchange you accept the terms below and the description of the test that appears throughout: it is an educational screener, and the score it produces is an estimate with a stated margin of error.
Uses a score from this site cannot be put to
Being specific here saves everyone trouble later. A result from IQTest is not valid evidence for:
- membership of Mensa or any other high-IQ society;
- a diagnosis of any condition, or a claim of giftedness or impairment;
- academic placement, exam accommodations or special educational provision;
- employment screening, promotion or any hiring decision;
- legal, immigration, insurance or medical proceedings of any kind.
Every item on that list needs a supervised instrument administered by a qualified professional. Presenting a result from this site as though it were one is a misuse of it. What the number does legitimately support is covered in what the bands mean.
No professional relationship
Reading this site does not create a clinician–patient or advisor–client relationship. Everything published is general information written for a general audience, not advice tailored to your situation.
Using the site
Take the test as often as you like and share your own result freely. Do not scrape or mirror the item bank, republish the written content in bulk, present a result from here as a professional assessment, or attempt to disrupt or overload the service.
Our content, and quoting it
Written material, item text, figures and code are ours or licensed to us. Quoting a short passage with attribution and a working link is fine and welcome. Wholesale reproduction, translation for republication, or feeding the item bank into another product is not.
What we do and do not warrant
We commit to specific things: claims are checked against primary sources, figures carry verification dates, review dates move only when a review happens, and reported errors get fixed. Those are commitments about process, and the reviewer page carries a dated log of what was checked.
They are not a warranty of outcome. The site is provided as is, without guarantee of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. Scores carry measurement error described in the build notes, and third-party facts such as fees and test editions can change between our check and your reading.
Liability
So far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this site or from reliance on any score it produces. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Links and partners
We link outward to research, publishers and regulators so claims can be verified, and to a small number of commercial partners disclosed on the about page. We do not control those destinations and are not answerable for their content or their handling of your data.
Changes
These terms may be revised; the review date at the top reflects the version in force. Continuing to use the site after a revision means accepting it. Questions go through the contact page.
