Cookies and local storage

There is no cookie banner on this site because there are no cookies to consent to. What does exist is three values in local storage, listed below by name.

Zero cookies

Not “only essential cookies”. None. No analytics cookie, no session cookie, no advertising or retargeting identifier, nothing set by a third party. If your browser shows a cookie from this domain, something is wrong and we would like to hear about it.

The three local storage values

Local storage is a browser feature that keeps small values on your own machine. Unlike a cookie it is not attached to requests, so it never travels to a server unless a page deliberately reads and sends it. Ours are read only by the test page.

KeyWhat it holdsWhy
iqv_prevYour previous score and its error, with a timestampSo a retake can be tested against it for reliable change
iqv_lastvThe wording of the last result summary shownSo a repeat visit does not serve identical phrasing
iqv_shownfamWhich comparison figures you have already been shownSo the result screen varies between attempts

None of them identifies you. None is readable by us. Why the test keeps any state at all is a consequence of running the scoring in your browser rather than on a server.

What does leave your browser

One thing, and only if you choose to send it: whatever you write in the contact form. Your answers, timings and score are not on that list and never have been. The privacy policy holds the full inventory, and the reasoning behind keeping it that short is on the about page.

Clearing them

Clear site data for iqtestt.net in your browser settings, or open the site in a private window and close it afterwards. Either removes all of them. The site keeps working; you will simply lose the ability to compare a retake against your last attempt.

Third parties

Typefaces come from your operating system, so no font service is contacted. There is no embedded video, no social widget and no comment system. The only outbound connection made on your behalf is a contact-form submission you trigger yourself. Links to partner sites are ordinary links — following one puts you under that site's policies rather than ours, as our terms note.
